THE rich and diverse sounds of various well-loved African artists will fill the air at The Boardwalk when the Afro Goes East Tour ventures to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan on November 5.

Afro music lovers are promised an encompassing and exuberant show with an ensemble of their favourite artists. Collaborating for the event are Musa Sukwene, Robbie Malinga, Vusi Nova, Amanda Black and many more.

On November 4 and 6, comedy fans are also promised loads of laughter at the Afro Goes East comedy events featuring a crazy line-up of comedians including Siya B, Thenjiwe, Kedibone Mulaudzi, Elton Mduduzi and TD Jokes.

Both events will be staged by Thiko Events Management, The Boardwalk and Umhlobo Wenene FM.

“The Boardwalk is excited to play host to the illustrious performers and comedians who will be visiting our city as part of the Afro Goes East Tour. The tour kicked off in spectacular fashion at Carnival City in October and by all accounts, it was an awesome show,” said Vuyiswa King, Events and Entertainment Manager of The Boardwalk.

Richard Ramudzuli, Events Manager at Thikho Events, said, “We are very excited to host the first of many events in PE.”

Musa Sukwene, known to both Afro music lovers and those of other genres, needs little introduction. Having won South African Idols in 2013, Sukwene has not stopped shining and, at the announcement of this year’s top 10 Idols contestants, he performed his brand new hit single “Mthande” from his album Mr Serious which recently reached gold status.

Vusi Nova, who was born in PE, has released three albums, Walk into Light, Did It for Love and Naninina. He has also been nominated for the South African Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album.

Robbie Malinga is a well-known producer and a singer who has worked with various local talents and performed hit duets such as “Sobabili” with Kelly Khumalo, “Thetha Nam” with Zahara and “Kwenzenjani” with Naima Kay, to mention but a few.

Lastly, Amanda Black is a bubbly singer/songwriter and all round creative artist from the Eastern Cape. Also a season 11 former SA Idols contestant, Black recently released her first single called “Amazulu”.

The comedy shows will take place on November 4 and 6 at The Boardwalk Amphitheatre at 8pm, while the music concert on November 5 will begin at 3pm on The Boardwalk’s Festival lawns.

Tickets to the comedy shows are R150 per person and between R195 and R500 for the Afro Goes East Music and can be purchased at Computicket.
