Westpark notch up first win in PELFA Old Buck Legends League

2017-06-28 06:01

AFTER two successive draws in the Port Elizabeth Legends Football Association (PELFA) Old Buck Legends League, Westpark finally registered their first win against NMBM.

NMBM was at the receiving end of the 1-0 win of Westpark. It was a very evenly contested game with many shots at goals.

Westpark’s Mike Frosler eventually scored a goal some five minutes before the final whistle in the good spirited game.

In another game, Mahle Old Grey returned to their winning ways when they lowered PE City’s colours 2-1. Tony Danev put City in the lead midway through the first half.

Mahle Old Grey’s shots at a goal eventually turned one with Deon Carolus equalising about five minutes from the half time whistle.

The half time score was 1-1.

The game swung to and fro in the second half and Julius Jogoo netted the winner for Mahle Old Grey nine minutes before the final whistle blew.

Callies overwhelmed Priory 8-0 in their one-sided game.

Nigel Bailey scored two of Callies’ goals and Karl Pereira scored another to put Callies up 3-0 at half time.

The goals flowed in the second half, with Lukhanyo “Jomo” Dlula, Aslam Sydow, Ryan Truelove each adding a goal. That, however, was not the end of the goal spree. Nigel Bailey completed his hat trick and Karl Pereira helped himself to his second brace of the night.

Kuyga Masters and Hearts fought their hearts out to a 1-1 draw. In this very fair and competitive game, the teams went to the half time break goalless.

Then, Lee Stevenson put Hearts into the lead six minutes into the second half. Kuyga kept on putting pressure on the Hearts’ goals and some 10 minutes later, Enoch Chekure netted the equaliser.

Shamrocks once again reigned victorious when they beat African Leopards 1-0.

Kumarin “Bubble” Naidoo scored Shamrocks’ winner midway through the first half.

Hearts are currently at the top of the log with 16 points, followed by African Leopards with 15 points and Kuyga Masters in third place, also with 15 points.
