3 men arrested with firearms

In the first week of June 67 people were arrested for various crimes.

Drug confiscations included 10 heroin units, 95g of tik, 67 mandrax tablets and 114g of dagga.

A total of 28 houses were searched for drugs and other contraband firearms were also seized in three separate incidents.

On Saturday 6 June at 15:30 in Forester Close, Westridge a metro police officer was informed that a suspect had a firearm.

The suspect was searched and a zip gun and one .38-calibre special round was seized.

The 18-year-old man was arrested and detained at the Mitchell’s Plain police station.

On the same day at 16:45 officers were on patrol in Lohengrin Street, Eastridge when they spotted a man on a bicycle with a firearm.

The police officers gave chase and cornered the man. A revolver and 5 .38-calibre special rounds were seized.

The 19-year-old man was arrested.

Later on the same day the police received information about a man who allegedly robbed people in Langeberg Street, Tafelsig.

After following up on the information a 28-year-old man was arrested.

The man had an imitation firearm and screwdriver in his possession
