House burglaries, heists, car-jackings and armed robberies are on the increase in Cape Town. Residents are increasingly looking for ways to safeguard their property.

Dogs, locks and other extreme measures are all some of the things Mitchell’s Plain residents are implementing to keep their property and themselves safe.

This week People’s Post polled readers on social media about how safe they feel in their areas.

Readers were also asked if they felt the police were doing enough.

A majority of the readers said the police were not doing enough to ensure their safety.

We also wanted to know how they fought crime and assisted the police.
