Call for cultural affairs awards

2015-10-13 06:00

Nominations for the Cultural Affairs Awards close on Friday.

The awards are held annually to celebrate individuals and organisations in the province who are making a positive contribution on the cultural side of life. The awards have been given to those who have made a profound impact in the areas of arts, culture, language, heritage, museums, archives, geographical names and libraries over the years.

Anroux Marais, provincial minister of cultural affairs and sport, says it is important to celebrate the rich and diverse culture of the individuals and organisations who are doing the province proud. “These are the people who build a foundation for the generations to come”, says Marais.

Members of the public who wish to nominate an individual or organisation for an award, can get nomination forms on the department’s website at

The awards ceremony will take place in February next year.
