Call for witnesses

2015-05-05 06:00

Police are concerned about the number of stone-throwing incidents in Tafelsig – specifically Tafelberg, Moira and Stella streets.

Mitchell’s Plain police released a statement addressing concerns on the matter last week.

“We are concerned about the recent upsurge in stone-throwing in Tafelsig. This type of criminality is (however) not only directed at buses and motor vehicles driving through the area.

“We believe that most of these incidents involve mischievous children who are fighting by means of throwing stones at each other and inadvertently damaging vehicles,” the statement reads.

With the escalation of incidents, all roleplayers are now involved to find a solution.

“We are appealing to Tafelsig residents not to allow their children to partake in such criminal behaviour as you make yourself guilty of an offence and liable to face the full might of law.”

Police are urging witnesses of these crimes and residents who have video footage to urgently call the Mitchell’s Plain police on 021 370 1706 or sector commander Warrant Officer Petrus Baadjies on 079 894 1511
