Repairs to the tune of R1.5m along Chappies are progressing steadily.

The provincial department of transport and public works has said good progress is being made in repairing infrastructure on Chapman’s Peak Drive after the wildfires in March. All repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Road signs and electrical infrastructure have been repaired or replaced. Fibre-optic cables at most of the look-out areas have been replaced, with some work still being done at the Noordhoek end.

The weather station system at the Noordhoek look-out area has been replaced, commissioned and tested. The entire security camera system has been replaced and six of the seven cameras are working again.

The irrigation system at the toll plaza has been restored, but the plaza boardwalk still needs repairs.

Current repairs have no impact on the flow of traffic. However, motorists should be aware that when it rains in winter the road will be closed for safety.
