The road to England will start at Newlands on Saturday when Heyneke Meyer’s charges take on a World XV coached by Robbie Deans and Bernard Laporte.

The star-studded World XV will feature among others: Delon and Steffon Armitage, Luke Burgess, Carl Haymon, Maxime Mermoz, Maxime Machenaud, Lachlan Turner, Rudi Wulf and Ali Williams as well as local legends in the form of Bakkies Botha and Gurthrö Steenkamp.

The match, which is an unofficial test, will give Meyer the chance to use new talent while also giving fringe players playing time to bolster his squad ahead of the Rugby Championship, which starts next weekend.
