Dance for All’s annual Kaleidoscope production will unfold this weekend as part of Youth Day celebrations at Artscape Theatre.

The concept of the production takes a slightly different angle this year, emulating an actual kaleidoscope.

The on-stage kaleidoscope will be portrayed with different dance genres and styles, including ballet, contemporary, flamenco, and African contemporary, through five different choreographed pieces.

The choreographers behind this colour are Anderson Carvalho, Daniela di Lorenzo, Allison Hendricks, Ché Adams, Louise Coetzer, Hope Nongqongqo and Lorraine Ndindwa.

They lead a team of dancers from Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Nyanga, Delft, Elsies River, Kuils River, Mitchell’s Plain and Athlone.

Some of these dancers have been with Dance for All since the age of 10.

Dance for All runs an extensive outreach programme, offering dance training to young dancers from Gugulethu, Nyanga, Khayeltisha, Delft, Kenilworth, Montagu, Barrydale and Paarl. The organisation is constantly seeking funding.

Kaleidoscope is made possible with sponsorship from the City of Cape Town. The production is dedicated to the late Christopher Kindo, previously a dance teacher and choreographer with Dance for All.
