Donate to seniors’ Xmas

2015-10-20 06:00

A property company in Strandfontein is partnering with Proudly Strandfontein in a Christmas hamper charity project.

The Strandfontein franchise of Rawson Properties is inviting residents to contribute to hampers for 270 seniors in the annual Joseph andamp; Carol Pillay senior project “Christmas in spring” event in November.

Boxes in which residents can put their donations will be at the property company’s location. Another drop-off point will be at the annual meet-your-neighbour event at Strandfontein sports grounds on Saturday 31 October.

“We have realised that as a franchise, assisting our community hands-on more consistently is of utmost importance in making a positive impact. So we have developed a campaign that we hope will change the lives of the Strandfontein community, one act of kindness at a time,” the business, which has been operating in Strandfontein for 10 years, says in a statement.

For food hampers residents can donate 15 items per hamper: Fish oil, cake flour, rice, sugar, tea, coffee, jam, peanut butter, jelly, custard, a can of fruit, two-minute noodles, a tin of pilchards, cereal and long-life milk.

Items to donate to women are bedsocks, slippers, foam bath, face cloths and sanitary wear. Suitable donations for men are ties, razors or shavers, soap-on-a-rope, aftershave and scarves. Unisex items include soap, body creams and lotions and soap.

Theo Rainers, franchisee owner, says people don’t care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.

Serving the community is one of the franchise’s core values.
