“According to witnesses a white bakkie drove past and shot at the deceased. He died on the scene. The deceased is known as a drug runner,” Kleinsmith says.

She adds five attempted murder cases were also opened. Two incidents occurred in Ottery, where a foreign national was shot in the hand and stomach.

“At about 05:10 on Thursday a foreigner was shot once in the hand and the stomach. The victim was in Edward Avenue, Ottery picking up work colleagues (when he was shot). The suspect is unknown and no arrests were made.
