Five arrested with stolen bakkie

2015-08-04 06:00

One woman and four men were arrested in Muizenberg for being in possession of a stolen bakkie.

The Muizenberg police made the arrest during a routine patrol on Friday morning last week.

Captain Stephen Knapp, spokesperson of the Muizenberg police station, says the officers noticed a white Nissan 1400 bakkie parked in a parking area alongside Baden Powell Drive.

“The officers noticed five suspects in the vicinity of the vehicle and also noted that the number plates on the front and rear of the vehicle did not correspond,” he says.

It was soon determined that the bakkie had been stolen in Parow.

Knapp says the five suspects, aged between 20 and 44, were arrested and detained at the police station.

They appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday last week.

Colonel Ishmail Daniels, station commander of the Muizenberg police, says he is pleased with the vigilance of his members and the arrest of the suspects.

He congratulates Constables Ryan Petersen and Mbongeleni Radebe for their good work
