Four arrested for hijacking

2015-05-05 06:00

Four people were arrested for a hijacking in Lentegeur.

On Wednesday 22 April at 13:00 the Lentegeur Crime Prevention unit were performing stop and searches in Bont Street, Colorado Park, says police spokesperson Sergeant Cathy Meyer.

They noticed a suspicious white Toyota Tazz with four occupants inside, she says.

“During the search of the vehicle two residents approached the police officers identifing the occupants for hijacking and housebreakings in the Colorado area,” she says. “Officers approached the vehicle and found a crowbar and a blanket.”

Meyer explains that these items are often used in housebreakings.

Two men – aged 27 and 25 – as well as two women, 20 and 25-years-old, were arrested.

Several cases are being investigated and suspects have subsequently appeared in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court on Friday 24 April
