The police are searching for the man responsible for two cases of sexual assualt in Rondebosch and Claremont recently.

Captain Angie Latchman, spokesperson of the Wynberg police cluster, says the police urgently seek the help of the community in trying to establish the identity and whereabouts of a man involved in the assaults which occurred on Thursday 23 and Sunday 26 July.

Latchman says in both cases the unsuspecting victims were accosted during the early hours of the morning by an unknown man armed with a firearm.

“His modus operandi is that at gun point he holds up the victims and demands that they perform oral sex on him, after which he flees the scene,” she says. Latchman says the suspect poses as a cab driver.

In the incident which occurred in Claremont on 26 July he was seen driving a metallic gold Toyota Avanza (registration number unknown).

“The suspect is believed to be in his early thirties, about 1.8m in height and chubby in build,” she says.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of this wanted person is urged to contact the investigating officer, Constable Nadia Williams of the Wynberg police cluster on 082 522 1078.
