A drive to get more information from residents who are registered on the City’s housing database was conducted at the Rondevlei community centre in Lavender Hill on Thursday last week.

The drive was conducted by the City of Cape Town’s human settlements directorate in a bid to encourage applicants, especially those who have been registered on the database for the longest period of time, to update their details.

The directorate has been sending its registration drive team and Expanded Public Works Programme workers out to different parts of the city to encourage residents to complete a housing application form to see if they qualify for an opportunity and to update their details on the database.

This initiative has seen positive results in areas such as Mitchell’s Plain, Bonteheuwel, Hanover Park and Gugulethu.

In particular, the City is urging senior residents who have been registered on the database for a long time to update their details, so that the City can reach them when a housing opportunity comes along.
