2015-05-26 06:00

The Kronendal Music Academy of Hout Bay’s jazz band, KMA, will be hosting a fundraising concert on Saturday.

Titled Let me play among the stars, the concert will help finance the band’s trip to Grahamstown to perform at this year’s National Youth Jazz Festival.

Kronendal Music Academy is an award-winning non-profit organisation whose main focus is to provide music education in as many forms and styles as possible to Hout Bay’s community.

Local musician Claude Cozens tutors the KMA band made up of Curtly Masemola (bass), Keenan Strauss (drums), Aviwe Mkhaphuza (sax) and Leanne Johannes (vocals).

They’ll be joined by pianist John Pete and some of Cape Town’s leading up-and-coming jazz musicians like Keenan Ahrends (guitar) and Robin Fassie Kock (trumpet).

They’ll be performing at the luxurious five-star Riverside Estates in Valley Road, Hout Bay from 18:00 for 18:30.

Audience members also stand a chance to win raffle prizes like a stay for four people at Amakhaya Lodge valued at R6400.V

Tickets for the show cost R150 and include sherry on arrival. A cash bar will be available. Call 021 790 4457 to book. Visit www.kmahoutbay.org for more information about the Kronendal Music Academy
