A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of an off-duty police officer in August.

Warrant Officer Herman Prins was standing at a car wash on the corner of Cedar and Boshoff streets when he was shot in the face.

The officer of Mitchell’s Plain police station has since recovered.

The suspect was arrested on 12 September and has made several appearances in court on related charges.

The accused’s first court appearance was on 14 September and the matter was postponed until 25 September. The case was then again postponed to Monday last week for further investigation.

After a brief appearance, the case was again postponed to 28 October.

The suspect remains in police custody and the investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Dedrick April on 021 370 1706 or 084 516 7263
