Man attacked at home, dies

2015-08-04 06:01

A young man was stabbed to death while his friend escaped the attackers to call for help in Imizamo Yethu on Saturday last week.

Warrant Officer Tanya Lesch, spokesperson of the Hout Bay police station, says the surviving victim, a woman, alerted police officers on patrol.

The deceased is a 20-year-old man from Imizamo Yethu.

The woman explained that while she and a friend were at home in S Biko Street, three suspects forced the door open at about 02:30.

They asked her where her boyfriend was and when she told them he was not there, they started to assault and stab them with knives.

“The complainant managed to escape and alerted the police. When the officer went to the address they found her friend on the floor. He was declared dead by paramedics,” Lesch says.

Lesch says the police are following up on information and that a case of murder was opened.

Anyone with information should contact the investigating officer, Constable Thabo Hokoza, on 021 791 8660
