The naked body of a Malawian man was found in his car in Diep River on Thursday 29 October at 18:00.

Warrant Officer Keith Chandler, spokesperson of Diep River police station, says the car was parked at Diep River train station.

“The man allegedly went missing on Sunday and was reported to the Wynberg police on Tuesday,” he says.

Chandler says the car was discovered by his friends who had formed a search party to look for him.

The police have opened up an inquest docket to find the cause of death.

Paramedics certified the death and forensics and detectives investigated the scene.

Pub robberyFour armed men robbed a pub in Diep River on the night of Wednesday 25 October.

One of the robbers was wearing an ADT uniform.

The four armed men entered Jeremiah’s Pub and Restaurant in Enchor Road at 00:45 and made the 12 customers and four staff members hand over cash and cellphones. The robbers also emptied the gambling machines.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured.

Diep River detectives investigated the scene and police opened a case of armed robbery.

Police raid for drugsAfter two weeks of investigation the police made application to court for a search warrant for a house in Chudleigh Road, Plumstead.

The search warrant was carried out on Saturday 24 October at 07:30 and police officers found 11 pot plants containing dagga during the raid.

A 58-year-old man was arrested for illegally cultivating and possessing drugs.

He appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday last week and was given bail.

Murder-suicideA man shot his 54-year-old ex-girlfriend before killing himself in Prince Henry Crescent in Southfield on Saturday 24 October at noon.

The woman died on the scene.

“A 50-year-old man arrived at the house of his former girlfriend, whom he had been in a relationship with for 17 years before they recently broke up the relationship,” Chandler says.

He explains that an argument ensued between the two in the bedroom. The family who were in the lounge heard three gunshots being fired.

“It is alleged that the owner of the house was shot in the face and the boyfriend shot himself fatally in the head,” he says.

Police recovered a licenced 9mm Colt pistol with ammunition.

Forensic specialists and Diep River detectives investigated the scene.
