Muizenberg dogs chase title

2015-09-22 06:00

The prettiest pooches in Muizenberg will be competing at this year’s town festival.

The inaugural dog show, taking place on Saturday 10 October from 11:00, will see local canine pets vying to be named top dog.

The festival starts on Tuesday 6 October and is a series of musical, dance and theatre performances, interactive workshops, social and environmental talks and arts and crafts. A two-hour parade through Muizenberg will be held on Sunday 11 October.

The event will include professional dog demonstrations that showcase dog agility, talent and intelligence as well as the show competition.

An expert panel of judges will sort the pavement specials from the pedigrees in all the categories, including fastest dog, prettiest dog, best trained dog, most handsome dog and the Muizenberg Festival Dog of 2015.

Other owners will be thrown a bone to enter cutest puppy, best golden oldie, friendliest dog, biggest dog, smallest dog, owner look-alike and fluffiest dog.

A crowd funding page is currently open on Thundafund and also acts as “anyone with a dog they love can enter the dog show,” says festival spokesperson Juliet White.

“You can enter your dog by going to the Thundafund page to register your dog for R30 or on the day of the event.”
