Athlone’s Shafieka Patel has sung her way to the top of the Star Struck Voice Search competition.

The singer survived 13 weeks of competition round. She recently sang against four other finalists to win this year’s competition.

As part of her prize, Shafieka will sign a one-year contract with Crazyworld Productions which will see her working with producer and competition organiser Brilynn van Rooyen.

Her first single, “Linguistic culture”, is already ready for release, and Shafieka will be recording a full album in the coming months.

In winning the annual competition she has also won prizes worth R300 000. This includes her recording, photo shoots, a music video and internship with Crazyworld Productions and a Rode microphone endorsement along with hair and makeup endorsements.

During the course of the competition, Shafieka was also chosen as the face of a new up-and-coming clothing brand, called Linguistically Cultured.

She’ll also be the brand ambassador for next year’s Star Struck competition.

The competition is set to be extended nationally next year, so she will also be able to travel the country with her new music.
