Son shot in Plumstead hijacking

2015-05-05 06:00

Diep River police are on the hunt for three men who hijacked a Plumstead father and his son on Monday last week.

According to a police report the Plumstead father parked his Mercedes Benz in his driveway at 20:30 and waited for his 26-year-old son.

He was approached by three men who asked for water from the garden tap.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Keith Chandler says the men then held him up at gunpoint and proceeded to search him.

“The suspects then climbed into the resident’s Mercedes, registration CA 434434. By this time the resident’s son came out and saw what was happening and shouted at them. The suspect with the firearm pointed the firearm at the son and fired a shot, wounding the son in the right hand.”

The son was rushed to Victoria Hospital and the vehicle was last seen in Steenberg.
