The self-proclaimed aristocracy of music will be celebrated in Cedric Vandenschrik’s Kings, queens and divas at GrandWest’s Roxy Revue Bar.

From the king of pop to the queen of soul, the show pays homage to the hits of music icons by combining colourful costumes and caricatures of the “royals” of music.

A band and three vocalists will bring the likes of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, Freddy Mercury, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Diana Ross and Cher to life on stage.

Fronting the show is Vandenschrik, who transforms himself for his appearances as David Bowie, George Michael, James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti, amongst others.

Songstress Luella Holland plays divas likes Madonna and Celine Dion, while Monique Hellenberg steps into the royal shoes of Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Diana Ross. The women also pay tribute to the disco divas of the 1970s in a hip-swaying medley.

They are backed by Andre Swartz on drums, Jeandre Schultz on guitar, Michael McAuley on bass and Meryl van Noie on keyboards.

Kings, queens and divas will be on at the Roxy Revue Bar from Wednesdays to Saturdays at 20:30 until 9 January. Tickets cost R90 each from Computicket. WIN! WIN! WIN!
