Tik ‘smoking dome’ leads to arrests

2015-05-05 06:00

Four people have been arrested for drug possession.

The arrest was made during a search at Woodlands Villa in Vorster Road, Wetton. The crime prevention unit was there with a warrant on Friday 10 April at 18:30, says police spokesperson Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka.

“Numerous complaints by residents of the complex were received. The residents reported a house had been used as ‘a smoking dome’,” he says.

Warrant Officer Gregory Grey led a team there and found four people smoking drugs. The officers found two 3.8g packets of tik worth R240 in a cupboard.

After no one took account for the drugs all the suspects – three men aged between 25 and 32 and one 34-year-old woman – were arrested.

Police station commander Colonel Jan Alexander urges community members to report crime and criminal activities.

Anyone with information on crime can call the Lansdowne police station on 021 700 9000 or 082 576 2804
