A man has appeared in court for a shooting in Bokmakierie on Tuesday.

According to Athlone police spokesperson Sergeant Zita Norman, police officers patrolling the corner of Bokmakierie Street and Eighth Avenue were alerted by a resident that there was a shooting.

When the officers arrived at the address, they were informed that a man had been shot in the head.

He was rushed to Groote Schuur Hospital.

“The community also informed the police who the shooter was and then the shooter was arrested.

“The victim was shot in his forehead and is currently in a coma,” says Norman.

A case of attempted murder has been opened.
