Arrests for stolen cars

Mitchell’s Plain police recovered a stolen vehicle, even before it was reported stolen, on Thursday 9 June at 10:00.

Four men were arrested as they were caught while stripping a Nissan Tida in Tafelberg Street, Tafelsig.

The vehicle was searched and the registration papers were found, inside the glove box of the vehicle, with the owners particulars on it.

The owner was contacted and disclosed that she did not know that her car was stolen, says spokesperson Captain Ian Williams.

In an unrelated matter, police recovered three stolen cars and arrested four people for the possession of stolen goods in a recent Rocklands bust.

On Monday 6 June at 06:55 police were attending to complaints when they received information about a suspected stolen car, says Williams

“[Officers went to the address in] Avro Street and saw a blue Citi Golf. The vehicle was found to have been stolen in Maitland during May. A 35-year-old man was arrested,” he says.

At the same address police found a white Ford Bantam.

A 24-year-old man fled the scene but was speedily apprehended by alert officers.

The vehicle was found to have been stolen.

Officers found a third stolen vehicle – a white Mazda which was stolen in Table View during June.

A 35-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
