Soccer players from all over Cape Town were honoured at a special dinner in Rocklands on Friday.

Bayview FC hosted the dinner as the formal prizegiving following the successful u.16 Youth Cup held in Strandfontein on Saturday 10, Sunday 11 and Friday 16 June.

Thirty-two teams competed for four trophies and more than R18 000 in cash and prizes.

Several other players were honoured at the prizegiving.

Steven Voegt of Bayview FC was named Player of the Tournament, Keano Faro of Trinitarians was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Ashton Cloete of Woodlands FC was Top Goal Scorer of the ­Tournament.

Eersteriver FC were voted Team of the Tournament.

Aashiq Arnold of Collville FC was named Junior Ref of the Tournament, Stephen Samaai of Bayview FC was named Senior Ref of the Tournament and Ricardo Groenewald of Strandfontein FC was named Coach of the Tournament.

Trinitarians from Elsies River won the cup title while Milano from Mitchell’s Plain was the runner-up.

In the plate section, Standards FC beat FC Cape Flats.

In the shield section, Juventus beat Cape Town Rangers.

For the Cassiem Davids Memorial Trophy, Wynberg St John’s beat Ikapa.

The winners and runners-up in all the sections were awarded trophies and other prizes. The cup winners were also given new gear.

The organisers say they are grateful to their sponsors, 7 Stars energy drink, the City of Cape Town, Jason Bait and Tackle, Spreeme Hiring Service, Petra Catering Services, Strandfontein FMC and Steven Josh roofing.
