Every parent, teacher, reader and educated person knows: there is no freedom like a mind freed.

April is the month in which we collectively celebrate our liberation as a country on Freedom Day, or 27 April.

This month the team at People’s Post tackles education through books as a means to freedom.

As an ode to this day, the team at People’s Post – with our colleagues at TygerBurger and CityVision – will be celebrating our freedom the entire month as part of our monthly #WeheartPost campaigns.

We gathered and distributed animal welfare products in February, and were amazed by the generous donations of clothing for street people during our March campaign.

An astounding 102 black bags filled with clothing, nine boxes of shoes, three small mountains of bedding and two umbrellas made their way to our offices during our March #WeheartPost campaign.

We are starting our April drive by asking our generous readers to donate all their dust-gathering books so we can put them to good use. All you have to do is gather and hand over the books and nominate a beneficiary to post@peoplespost.co.za. A small token, done with big hearts.

Look to the spiders and cobwebs in the corners of your bookcase and be inspired to support this very worthy cause.

V Clothing donations received in March will be handed over to the selected charity this week. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and next week’s People’s Post for more. V Donations of books for our Books=Freedom campaign can be dropped off until 29 April at our offices at 112 Edward Street in Bellville or at Vangate Mall’s centre management in Athlone.
