Diep River police are investigating a house breaking on Thursday in Plumstead.

Diep River police spokesperson Warrant Officer Keith Chandler says the husband heard a scuffle in the kitchen.

He went to investigate and found two men at the doorway.

“He shouted at them and they ran out with his family’s belongings and keys. He followed the two suspects and when he got into the driveway, one of the suspects turned and pointed a firearm at him and he retreated back into the house.

“The suspects got away with one of the family’s cars, a blue Golf 4. The other car’s tyres were slashed. Other items that were taken included a briefcase, laptops, tablets and other personal items,” says Chandler.

“No shots were fired. Nobody was injured in the incident.

“Forensics and detectives were summoned to the scene and are busy with the investigation,” he says.

V Anyone with information on the break-in should contact detective Sergeant Arnold Bosch on 021 710 7360.
