Woodstock police are investigating a case of kidnapping following the abduction of the owner of Zhaungs Group in Victoria Street in Woodstock on Tuesday (25 July) evening.

According to the police report, Zhaung Armed (71) is still missing and Woodstock police appeals to the public to help find him.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says: “Woodstock police are seeking the assistance of the public in tracing the whereabouts of a businessman who was allegedly kidnapped by three unknown men in front of his business last night at about 17:40. Anyone with information regarding the suspects or who witnessed the incident, is requested to contact the investigation office’s Warrant Officer David Miles on 021 4862 840 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”

Rwexana says the victim and his driver were busy in his vehicle when an unknown double cab bakkie pulled up behind them.

Three men then got out of the bakkie and threatened the victim with a firearm, forcing him into the bakkie. They drove off in the direction of Victoria Road, Woodstock. She says the bakkie was later found abandoned in the same road.

Rwexana says the motive for the kidnapping is still unknown.
