Calling all sports stars

2016-04-19 06:00

If you are between 13 and 18 years old and an ace on the sports field, then you have to enter the People’s Post/Let’s Play Sport Star of the Month competition.

Entries are now open.

Eduard Rosentrauch, spokesperson of SuperSport Western Cape, says the initiative is aimed at giving recognition to pupils who excel in sport.

“Play, physical education and sport are foundational to the holistic development of children and an initiative of this nature contributes to a healthier community and encourages sports activity,” says Rosentrauch.

All sporting codes will be considered.

Coaches, teachers or parents (anyone, in fact) can nominate their most talented sport star and write us a few lines detailing why he or she deserves to be recognised. Each monthly winner will receive a gift pack and will be entered in the People’s Post/Let’s Play Sports Awards of the Year to be held at the end of the year.

Last year’s overall winner was Tasneem Cozyn of Muizenberg High School for her fantastic karate achievements.

Start encouraging your pupils by nominating them by email to ben.burger@media24.com. Clearly write the subject as Sports Star. You need to mention the achievements of the nominee in detail and the email should be shorter than 300 words. The decision of the judges is final.
