Join the eMzantsi carnival and community building project in celebrating Women’s Day in Scarborough.

eMzantsi is hosting a free local showcase of dance, DJs, singers, rappers and a taste of carnival featuring Wireless Cowgirl and Zinzi (aka Dizaster). But it’s not only about the girls – comedian The Blacksmith hosts the event, with performances from Red Hill’s Anele ‘Rhazo’ Jim and Ocean View’s MWP.

Catch the diverse talent and creativity of the south peninsula on Tuesday 9 August at the Scarborough Community Hall, Watsonia Road.

Activities start at 11:00 and the stage show runs from 11:30 to 14:00.

The Women’s Day showcase is the third in a series of eMzantsi commemorative day events this year in the run-up to the annual “rolling carnival”.

It’s an opportunity for people to find out how they can get involved in eMzantsi Carnival, lend a hand and participate in the annual parade and stage show on Heritage Day, in Red Hill.

This year’s carnival theme “Hilltopia” brings together Scarborough and Red Hill with a vision of a community built on common ground, that has a green heart, where people are switched on and share a positive outlook; living on the edge of change.

The eMzantsi Office, now in the Work For Love complex on Lekkerwater Road, Sunnydale, invites peninsula groups to participate in the carnival.

Youth and community groups of all ages are welcome to apply.

V For more information contact the office on info@emzantsi.org.za and like the eMzantsi Carnival Facebook page to receive updates.
