Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck  is set to become the new training ground for Olympic Gold medalist Chad le Clos.

Le Clos announced his intention to move to the Mother City last week. He will be training at the school’s swimming pool in Kloof Street.

In the coming months the swimming pool will be upgraded “with all that is necessary to make it a centre for swimming excellence”, the school says in a statement.

The facility is expected to open in spring next year and will be home to a new swimming academy run by Le Clos.

“I am excited about the new base here for our new elite squad.

“ We also hope to inspire some young and upcoming swimmers from the Cape to join and to help build the Chad le Clos Swimming Academy,” he says.
