More than 60 youngsters from Mitchell’s Plain and Strandfontein met to end their year on a different note.

The group linked to the New Apostolic Church participated in a beach walk at Blue Waters Beach on Saturday from 08:00.

Tarryn Webber of the organising committee says the event was the first of its kind.

“It is a beach walk but also creates awareness to commemorate World Aids Day. We wanted our last activity for the year to be different,” she says.

The youngsters had fun in the sun, playing beach volleyball, rugby and other games before filming a video for their church leader.

The group then released balloons as part of their Aids awareness effort.
