The Decision Affects Destinies (DAD) Youth Mentorship Programme hosted a camp for 81 ambassadors last weekend at the True North Campsite in Grabouw.

The youth were aged between 9 and 20.

The DAD programme aims to expose young people to opportunities that can build their capacity and enable them be motivated and inspired.

Championed by ward 78 councillor Eddie Andrews, it encourages the ambassadors that every decision they make affects their destinies. The mentorship programmes pillars are building the self, family and community.

The ambassadors were exposed to a host of outdoor activities challenging their leadership, communication and team work skills, while also encouraging them on the importance of team work and listening to each other.

For many of the ambassadors it was the first time they were exposed to activities such as kayaking, zip-lining, riding on a tractor, hiking and doing obstacle courses in the bush.

Their parents and guardians joined the camp on the Sunday and together everyone participated in an Amazing Race activity.
