A 42-year-old taxi driver was caught in the crossfire between two rival gangs in Manenberg on Wednesday (1 March).

According to a report from Manenberg police, the shootout between the Hard Livings (HLs) and the Americans has resulted in three attempted murder cases.

Police spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett says the taxi driver was walking in Stormsrivier Walk at 18:26 when he was hit by a stray bullet. The bullet, he explains, hit the man in his ankle and it is unknown who fired the shot, or where it came from. The taxi driver was taken to Heideveld Emergency Centre.

The remaining two cases involved the shooting of two gang members aged 22 and 26. Bennett says the first gang member was shot in Scheldt Walk close to where the taxi driver was shot and the second gang member was shot in Renoster Walk.

The 26-year-old was shot in his left arm and the 22-year-old was shot in his right leg.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting incident is asked to call Manenberg Police Station on 021 699 9400 or Crime Stop on 0860010111.
