An alleged drug dealer in the Flamingo informal settlement could not escape police during a chase through the settlement.

According to a report from Lansdowne police, the 35-year-old man was caught when officers patrolling the area spotted him. When the man saw police, he threw down a bag and ran away.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka, says the incident occurred on Tuesday 21 February at 11:50. He says the police chased after the man and found him hiding in a toilet.

The bag the man threw to the ground contained heroine, tik and R1 200 cash.

The man is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court soon on drug dealing charges.
