Four foreign nationals between the ages of 23 and 32 were arrested yesterday (Thursday 6 April) in Woodstock on suspicion of dealing in and the possession of drugs.

Three of the suspects were also charged with illegal immigration after the preliminary investigation following their arrest revealed that they do not have the necessary documents.

The arrest was a result of an integrated multidisciplinary operation by the police in Railway Street in the Mascani informal settlement.

According to the Woodstock police spokesperson, sergeant Hilton Malila, police found 95 units of heroin, 27 plastic packets filled with tik, two parcels of dagga and seized a substantial amount of cash. Malila says all the items found were confiscated and drugs are estimated to have a street value of R10 000.

All the suspects are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday in Cape Town Magistrate’s court.

“The police want to encourage the public to inform us about all illegal activities occurring within their respective communities by contacting Crime Stop on 080010111 or send an SMS to the crime line on 32211,” Malila said.
