End of the road?

2017-04-04 06:02

Capri residents have been called to have their say on the proposed closure of Old Kommetjie Road.

The closure was proposed by residents of the Wingate Heights to “create a more secure neighbourhood”, says Eddie Andrews, Mayco member (South).

The request asks the City of Cape Town council to permanently restrict access on Old Kommetjie Road where it abuts the Glencairn expressway. The nearest alternative access is Stork Road which is about 200m away.

“The closure will have a minimal impact on residents of Wingate Heights. It will prevent pedestrians from entering Old Kommetjie Road from the Glencairn expressway,” says Andrews.

If the proposal is approved, it is expected the road will be closed by the end of June.
