The Totalsports Women’s Race will see thousands of runners (and walkers) coming together in Cape Town and Johannesburg on National Women’s Day.

“Our theme ‘Run for Life’ has a strong message with a single-minded ‘call to action’,” says Charmaine Claasens, head of marketing of Totalsports. “The aim is to unite women across South Africa to celebrate life. The Totalsports Women’s Race provides us with a fun environment in which to celebrate, educate and inspire mothers, sisters and daughters to take action and create awareness around breast cancer.

“The support received from runners in Cape Town and Johannesburg has been overwhelming in the past. We look forward to welcoming runners, walkers, families and friends to Grand Parade in Cape Town on Wednesday 9 August where they will celebrate womanhood and ‘run for life’ in support of PinkDrive.”

The fun run supports PinkDrive, an organisation committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education, and providing free services to medically uninsured people across South Africa. PinkDrive will be present at the race, offering free clinical breast examinations and education on the importance of self-breast examinations.

Each entrant will receive a fitted Nike t-shirt, an exclusive finisher’s bracelet, entertainment on the route and a live performance by a well-known South African artist.
