Follow-up meeting on Ocean View community action plan

2017-07-11 06:00

A public meeting on the City of Cape Town’s mayoral urban regeneration plan (Murp) will take place this week.

The meeting follows a workshop in June with representatives of organisations and residents of Ocean View to discuss ideas for a Murp community action plan. A number of consultative meetings had been held by City officials this year. Participants gave input on six different development needs of the community, namely the youth, women, community building, economic development, food security, and safety and security.

A group of volunteers then made sure the draft plan was written up so that more people could have a say for the final plan. The focus of Murp is the regeneration of eight specific suburbs – with Ocean View one of the eight.

The meeting tomorrow is a follow-up meeting to ensure that even more community members are consulted and to discuss the draft plan. The meeting will take place at the civic centre from 14:00 to 16:30.

Copies of the draft plan are available at the Ocean View Library. Comments and submissions can be dropped in the box marked “Community Action Plan”, emailed to echelon878@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp to 065 266 8917.
