A keen and talented young soccer player Travis van Wyk from Elsies River who plays for the Life Zone Soccer club based in Kensington is among a selected group of their players invited to participate in an educational, cultural and football tour to Sweden from Friday 23 June to Saturday 15 July.

The 12-year-old has been a top performer at his club for the past three seasons and has received numerous trophies and medals for his efforts.

Called the Dream Possible Tour of Sweden, this once in a lifetime opportunity for these young soccer players is in its 6th year and is annually hosted by LifeZone Soccer International and the Association for Cross Cultural Exchange Sweden – South Africa (ACCESS).

Ryan Swano on behalf of bruinou.com and Fifth Element Liv, says these international organisations cover the bulk of the costs but there are still some considerable costs which the parents of the participants have to bear.

Swano says Travis’s parents Esmé van Wyk and Selwyn Julies have been making many sacrifices these past few months to enable him to go on this tour but they still need to cross a few hurdles.

“Now a group of DJ’s and artists, most of them from Elsies River, are coming together to host a fundraiser aimed at boosting the finances for Travis’ tour,” he says.

Swano says the event called “Get Travis to Sweden” is co-ordinated by himself of the and will be held at the Goodwood Wrestling Club in Alice Road Goodwood on Saturday 10 June. The gates open at 14:00 and the event runs through until 02:00. No under 18’s will be allowed.

Swano says besides the entertainment inside the hall, the event will also have covered braai facilities.

“Supporters are allowed to bring their own food, refreshments and beverages. There will be no bar facilities so supporters are welcome to bring their cooler boxes,” he says.

Keeping the decks warm will be DJ realROZZANO, DJ Mikey G, RyanTheForce, Jeremy Maart aka Dj Crazy J, Denzel aka D-Boy and more guest Dj’s to be confirmed.

There will also be some surprise appearances by artists and well-known entertainers popping in throughout the event.

“Audio and lighting will be provided by Fifth Element Live and African Drum Pizza Lounge in Elsies River so the sound will definitely be of a good quality,” he says.

A range of prizes will be up for grabs in lucky draws and competitions held as from the evening which includes a pizza voucher, gift certificates from Meridian Dream Massage Therapy based in Matroosfontein plus a range of surprises from other sponsors.

Pre-sold tickets are available at R50 per ticket and for a limited time you can get your 5th ticket free when you buy four pre-sold tickets.

Tickets will be R60 at the gate.
