LETTER: Get UIF online, it’s much easier

2016-03-22 06:00

Regarding the recent letters about difficulties in obtaining UIF payments: it is much easier and quicker to claim via the UIF website www.ufiling.co.za.

I know of several people who have gone the website route and have received UIF payments. You don’t have to go to a centre to register as you can submit your registration documents via fax. You will receive login details; then you claim for a payment each month on the website and you get the payment in your bank account.

It is much better than standing in queues. I think the government has done a good job by implementing this online system. It does have some minor faults where you need to occasionally call the call centre to check on progress, but you don’t have to go to a centre at all. Also, there is a toll-free number for the call centre.
