Girl (6) knocked by car

2016-11-29 06:00

A six-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was knocked over by a car on Old Strandfontein Road in Mitchell’s Plain on Sunday evening.

ER24 says in a statement paramedics were responding to another emergency when they were flagged down by members of the community.

On arrival, paramedics found the girl lying in her father’s arms on the pavement. They immediately began their assessment, finding that she had sustained numerous injuries.

Paramedics treated the girl on the scene and provided her with advanced life-support interventions. She was then transported to the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

According to witnesses, the father and child had been crossing the road and did not notice the oncoming car.

The driver of the car did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities visited the scene for further investigations.
