Give to schools

2016-06-14 06:00

Steenberg police officers are pleading for the public to help them collecting stationery and school uniforms for underprivileged children.

The station received a request from an organisation called Pen 4 Africa for assistance in collecting these items.

Warrant Officer John Bartlett, Steenberg Police spokesperson, is urging residents to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

“Parents are often not able to replace stationery or school wear,” he says.

“This sometimes leads to children dropping out of school or they end up stealing which increases the bullying and gang formation problems in schools.”

Steenberg police request the assistance of the community with the collection of stationery, school bags, pencil bags, school shoes, school shirts, school jerseys and school books.

“Any stationary and school wear which is no longer needed will be welcomed by these needy children. We are in the cold, windy and rainy season and the children would appreciate all contributions,” he says.

V For further information or to drop off items, contact Warrant Officer John Bartlett at 021 702 9001 or 071 604 8381 or drop it off at the Steenberg Police Station.
