An awards ceremony was on Thursday 28 July to honour staff of the Sea Point City Improvement District (SPCID).

Among the staff members who were recognised for providing exceptional service at the ceremony at the New Kings Hotel, was Chumani Banagni, who was awarded Officer of the Year, and Wandile Hlathi, who was awarded runner-up.

Outgoing ward councillor Jacques Weber thanked the officers for their efforts.

“Every day you put on your uniform makes Sea Point safer for residents and the people who come into the area. They go home to their families, safe, because of you,” he says.

Weber also touched on the successes of the licence plate recognition (LPR) camera system, which is monitored by CID officers.

“Criminals get caught because we are in this together,” he says.

Long service awards were handed out and for the first time, staff providing cleaning services to the precinct were also awarded.

Field worker Natalie Coetzee also received acknowledgement.
