Children in Lotus River can expect a jam-packed programme at their local library for the rest of the school holiday.

Fenancia Magazi, assistant librarian at Lotus River Library, says their corridors are packed with excited children daily.

“Our activities have been running since last month, and was specifically organised to entertain and educate our children during this school break,” says Magazi.

“We have different items on our list every day, some of which include educational talks by the police on safety and crime prevention, as well as missing child awareness. Fire and Rescue Services are also in to teach kids fire awareness skills and what to do in the case of an emergency.

“Other organisations, including Safeline, are in throughout the rest of the week to educate young minds on child protection and child abuse,” she adds.

Magazi says safety awareness is not the only topics to explore.

“We are privileged to have companies like Blue Ribbon on board to educate kids on the production of bread.

“The kids just loved every minute of every programme, and can indulge in both movie and game time after each session.

“To add to this, we are privileged to work with the St Augustine’s Church holiday club, who makes sure that our kids are fed two meals per day.”V For more information call Lotus River Library on 021 706 3793.
