A 42-year-old man jogging on the side of the road has been killed in a hit and run accident in Belvedere Road, Claremont this morning.

Claremont police spokesman, Sergeant Lindile Dubeni says the accident happened at around 06:10. He says the driver of a silver citi golf fled the scene. Police are investigating a case of homicide.

“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. A culpable homicide case has been registered and any person with information regarding the incident is kindly requested to contact Lieutenant-Colonel Michael Benn on 082 469 2525,” Dubeni says.

Cape Town traffic services spokesman, Richard Coleman says the man has been identified as Nezaam Isaacs. He died on the scene. He says traffic services have handed over the case to the police for further investigation and the road has been cleared after being closed for more than an hour. “We send our condolences to family and friends,” Coleman says.
