The drama of a taboo love affair is being told at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre.

Cheers to Sarajevo, directed by Ashleigh Harvey, will be running until Saturday 8 July.

A South African photo journalist records a soon-to-be taboo love affair between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman at the start of the Yugoslavian war, a love affair that blossomed from the bud of a childhood friendship.

But can love survive war?

This production first played at last year’s National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, where it received excellent ­reviews.

Featured in the play are Stephen Christopher Jubber, Aimee Mica Goldsmith, Alistair Moulton Black and Lamar ­Bonhomme.
