A fair and entertainment will be on at Oude Molen Eco Village on Saturday 5 November to raise funds for retinal blindness.

The event, titled “Ripped Genes”, will be taking place at the Block E hall from 14:00. The community will be able to experience a concert offering a mixed bag of music to suit every taste.

Hosted by the Western Cape branch of Retina South Africa, Merle Falken, vice-chairperson of the organisation, says the event is aimed at the whole family.

“You will be able to enjoy music ranging from jazz to light classics, pop and even hip-hop,” she says.

“Bring the whole family because children will be kept busy. Food and soft drinks will be on sale and there are plenty of prizes up for grabs in the lucky draws.”

Retina SA is a non-profit voluntary organisation which creates awareness of and supports patients with retinal degenerative disorders. “We also assist with facilitating diagnosis and counselling for those suffering from these diseases. During Disability Month, November, this concert aims to raise much-needed funds to find a cure for retinal blindness and to create awareness of Retina South Africa and the work that we do.”

The entertainment for the day includes Camillo Lombard with his group Top Dog, Michelle Botha, Andre Sampie and Evergreen, Thando Ngada Band, Make a Difference and Sedick Jordan. Radio personality Bonita Blankenberg is the MC for the day.

Concert goers are encouraged to wear their most ripped jeans to enter the best dressed competition.

Tickets cost R120 for adults and R60 for children 10 and older. Children under 10 enter free. There is also a special family ticket at R300 for two adults and two children.

Tickets are available on www.quicket.co.za or from Retina SA Western Cape on email wcadmin@retinasa.org.za or call 021 824 6704.
